Nicky and her Nikon

Sunrise over the mountains

We were up so early to get to the airport in Zurich that dawn only broke as we were approaching Zurich. Gavin stopped the car so I could get this sunrise shot - the colours were amazing but only lasted for a few minutes before it clouded over, and at the airport it was raining and snowing.

It has been a rushed day - delays when departing, and then a very long 30 minute wait for our bags to come through on the carousel. When I was queuing through passport control I was next to Martin Clunes and his family (Doc Martin) - it's one of those funny situations where you feel that you know him as he is so familiar but of course you don't, and despite most people recognising him, British restraint kicked in and he was kindly ignored. He is taller, thinner and more handsome than he looks on TV!

I am posting this now as we have just got home, unpacked, repacked and are about to leave for Cambridge for our dinner at Adam's college. I hope there is no traffic, the M25 was looking horrible driving back from Heathrow! Unfortunately we are too late to see his rugby match this afternoon, but we are looking forward to seeing him tonight and again tomorrow.

The shadows here are so much darker than on the original image , where you can see all the detail in the foreground but here it looks too black. Not sure why
