Visiting an old marine project where we're assessing ongoing impact. Mixed results but reasons to be positive.

Highlight of the day (aside from having this view as I worked) was meeting Geumala, someone who's worked in the aid sector in Indonesia and who has a home near this village. An absolute breath of fresh air and some great insights into problems and successes in the village. She is a Indonesian woman of mixed Christian and Muslim heritage whose parents raised her very liberally. I've never heard such blunt views in Indonesia. I wet myself laughing when she said how much she has to restrain herself from going crazy when the ladies of the village try and gossip with her about the price of tomatoes changing from 40,000 to 50,000 rupiah per kilo. Standard village chitchat does not interest dear Geumala.
