Lifeboat

6.3C dry sunny and bright, with thin cloud cover in the afternoon. Wind to 24 mph with gusts to 38 mph.

Apothecary7's day off. We took Maeve the Deerhound through to Arbroath after 9am and had a walk round the harbour. As usual hands got cold when gloves were off to take photos. The extra is one of those photos. In Low Key of course. We walked round to the boatyard and came back the same way since the lock gate to the inner harbour was open. Most boats were still in the harbour. I mentioned last Saturday that Sea Breeze had sunk by the quayside in the inner harbour. No sign of her this week. We assume quickly removed and taken away.

From the harbour we had a quick visit to Tesco, then for a complete change we drove along to Victoria Park which runs along the seafront on the far side of Arbroath. Apothecary7 was hunting for St Ninian's Well. From the furthest point in the park we took Maeve along the cliff walk which heads out along the cliff tops towards Auchmithie (where the original famous Arbroath Smokies were made). It is a long time since we had been along the cliff walk. The walk was most enjoyable. Certainly fresh !

From the cliff tops we could sea the Arbroath lifeboat out at sea. There is a new Shannon Class Lifeboat due to come on station. Jet powered. No propellers. Turns on its own axis. I do not know if this was it.

On the way back home we stopped of at a furniture recycling project in warehouses on the outskirts of Arbroath. Just to have a look. The home for lunch and a quiet afternoon. No six nations rugby today.
