Tube Wasp

A European tube wasp, Ancistrocerus gazella, feeding on nectar in the fennel flowers. These small wasps build their nests in the tops of the bamboo stakes in my garden. They collect caterpillars to put in the nests to provide food for their young. Unfortunately they don’t know the difference between good caterpillars and bad caterpillars.

Another hot day. The trees are wilting and some are shedding their leaves. Everything that freshened up during the weeks of gloom are now looking rather sad.

Thank you to everyone who commented and left stars and hearts on my 2500th blip yesterday. I think I have  visited each one of your journals. Some of the Notifications dropped out before I had a chance to record them. If you don’t hear from me then please accept this as a personal  thank you.
