scale by scale...

...the dragon was 'clothed', each scale decorated by a child visiting the Family Day at this year's Perth Writers Festival.
The artist (and scale sticker on person) is Sean E Avery (looking VERY different to the image on his web page) and this one of the wonderful free events on the day.

Junior and I were there to see/meet/get books autographed by/shake his hand ('I'll never wash this hand again') and generally adore Andy Griffiths (extra)
Author of many cool books guaranteed to get boys reading (deeds of extreme derring do and bodily functions involved) we queued for 45minutes (don't ask) to get into see and hear him...he is brilliant, funny and lots of 'do not try this at  home', aka chain saw juggling in a tree house!

Then we queued for an hour and a half (he has his own roped off area) to get the books signed...again brilliant, funny and not your average scrawl but a dedication and wee cartoon drawing relevant to the book! Every child he met came away feeling incredibly special.
A champ..he must have RSI by the end of the day!...I learned in the first queue from a local author there with her children that last year he signed books for 5 hours!

A BIG day and a lot of standing but well worth it to see the sparkle in junior's eyes and books clutched in hot hands!
