Such Agonized Effort

Christina Rossetti on the struggle that prayer can be, ends with a prayer:

Lord, give us strength
To hold Thee fast, until we hear Thy Voice
Which Thine own know, who hearing It rejoice.

Lord, give us strength
To hold Thee fast until we see Thy Face,
Full Fountain of all Rapture and all Grace...

We made our way today through the Lower Alentejo, looking for where we might work one day...

Ended up here at Vila Nova de Milfontes - love this place... Last time we came here was in March, after walking along the Rota São Vicente all day and then getting a boat across the river. Couldn't help thinking how much more we appreciated arriving here after that, rather than cruising here in a car. Which goes with the poem - how struggling for something actually makes it so much more worthwhile to us.

Now, why would that be?
