Presentation for Nature Campers

Across the river in Amherst is the Hitchcock Center for the Environment, offering an excellent set of programs to inform persons of all ages about the environment, with a mainly local focus.

They provide a nearly year-round program of nature camps for children ages 6 to 10, to orient them about all sorts of things in nature, and above all to encourage their interest. This was at least the third time I have given a show on birds, using my digital images to show them birds from locales near and far. This summer a main focus of the camp was to learn about different habitats, and my images ranged from Alaska to the Massachusetts coast (stopping here for a burrowing owl on the porch of its hole at the Salton Sea in California in December 2003--I've just posted that image here).

As always the kids were a lively audience, with many questions and often perceptive remarks. It was great fun!
