The Traveller's Rest

After a late morning departure from reading we were stuck in traffic near Birmingham for quite some time. This was not helped when the SatNav decided I did not need to take the M6 Toll. Well I don't like to disagree with the SatNav, it is usually correct, but on this occasion I think it was wrong.

We finally reached Tebay (Cumbria) seven hours after leaving reading at about mid day. The computer said I had achieved an average speed on the day of 43 mph. Not brilliant as it was nearly all motorway.

A seat in front of the log fire was very welcome, as was a steak pie and chips.
