Sacred Sounds

Bit of an unusual afternoon - we went to a concert held in the Manchester Jewish Museum, a former synagogue built in 1874 and standing on Cheetham Hill Road. Our first visit, we will go again sometime.

We went to hear the Sacred Sounds Women's Choir, which was formed in 2013 for the Manchester International Festival. Their intention is to celebrate the religions, cultures and ethnicities found in Manchester today. Brilliant a cappella singing in lots of different languages, supported by a brilliant percussionists, Renu Hossain, who is Berlin based but from London originally.

Here they all are having their official photographs taken at the end of the concert.  The former synagogue has wonderful stained glass - that visible here features the 7 candle Menora.
