St. David....

Today is the 1st March and it is St. David's Day, the patron saint of our neighbours in Wales. He was about in Wales just after the Romans abandoned their province of Brittania. He was a good man wandering about Wales teaching and preaching and setting up monasteries and churches. He didn't come to a bad end like a lot of the saints did, dying horribly in nasty ways that their enemies devised for them. He became a saint for his goodness and not for his gruesome death. Personally, I prefer my saints to have died horribly.

The flower that is associated with him is the daffodil or Lenten Lily as it is sometimes called. They are out all over at the moment so I took this picture of some I found in Alexandra Park in Manchester.
