~The Skies Darkened~

~And Then The Rains Came~

Out today, trying to find something to photograph, anything.
Its difficult when there is no contrast and no sun to speak of.
I decided to shoot the horizon, the only patch of sky around me.

And then the deluge came upon me and my hilltop perch.
I reckon we got about an inch of rain in a half hours time.
Normally dry riverbeds overflowed their banks, though briefly.
Creatures, large and small, struggled to find safety on higher ground.

As quickly as the downpour started, it ended its assault on the desert.
Calm returned to the environs, birds flew and animals foraged again.
Final outcome, less dirt on the hillsides, more sediment in the valleys.
The fluvial process continues to shape and profile the Sonora Desert.

Though not the best image, it's the only image of the day!
Friday the 13th, that figures ;o)
Thanks for looking and reading, TucsonJim!

No Back-Blip today ;o(
