Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Warning:  thought I’d go for a blow by blow of the time with Fi today…..)

Our day to pick Fiona up from school….. she wanted to play a “new” game” of “school” and had the schedule all written out to the minute , very neatly,  by her sister.   (It’s one of my/our least favorite things to do!) …she’s extremely insistent we do it a certain way —I am the teacher , Boppa is another kid (but he got to leave school so he could “go to the dentist.”.(watch his tv news) as long as he was back for “science,”.   Thank heavens for “story time” on the rug and “art with Mary” at the table.   I already had some art materials out so for the first art class, Fiona made up a story to go with the very old heavy cardboard studio photos from an old family book.. early 1900s (the extra)—(there were also some tintypes of my grandfather and his brother, but she liked the other photos—the tintypes could be another blip)  The story: Michael and Julie get married, and hired 2 maids who were twins(I think they were nurses) who helped them with the rather old and unattractive twin daughters they had (My grandmother Ida and a friend “lily”) and then she had another little girl she named Julie after her. (I think it was a boy). The end.  This became the story for the next story time.  And again.   Fortunately there are 2 recesses and lunch each day. ..her lunch we are to remember (I’m writing it down now!) is 5 strawberries, 4 peanut butter pretzels, a cookie and a chocolate milkshake… We played thru one  whole day of school, then had pancakes for dinner (she helped make them) and then another whole day of school so she also had 2 whole lunches as well.  There also was “morning work”  “calendar on the rug”  “movement with numbers,”  “pledge of allegiance”…(Rexie was the flag.) “choicetime,(she did some art) ““math”(addition and subtraction)  and “science” (one about right and left brains and one about weather, with illustrations) and the second day art class she covered a matchbox with colored dots and put punched out baby feet inside, and I (“mary”) had her draw some objects— my big camera and an african basket- they were excellent.  No “history” on her list, but she learned about Elizabeth and Mary from the pictures in the opera program laying about from wed night…pretty interested about that beheading.   Non stop talking from the time we pick her up til Boppa takes her home (about 4 hours…….seems longer)   We suggested a Friday night movie, but no, “school” it was.  Lots of moving about from one place to another.  100% attention expected (and received)   (I think she likes kindergarten.  Unlike her cousin Oskar who would be much happier not there at all. )    Enough for me for one day…

Edit:  Had to go watch tv for a bit :-)   --now I'm back with a Fiona set on flickr.
