Showdown

Showdown at the Ol' Stump between a Downy Woodpecker and a Black-capped Chickadee.  The weekend has been wonderful for the birds.  I think Spring is in the air and they feel it and are enjoying it (a few sunflower seeds doesn't hurt, either).

If you have never seen a Hairy Woodpecker, please see my extra.  I am proud of this shot as I have never gotten this close to a Hairy before and you really get to see the difference in beak size compared to the Downy.

By the way, the Hairy is part of yesterday's story...as the men with the monstrous equipment did tell me that they had been attempting to photograph a Hairy further down the path.  This is what I already had in my camera ; )
