Refugees Welcome Here

Back in November 2014 several groups in Norwich wrote to each of the political parties on Norwich City Council to request that steps be taken to make Norwich a City of Sanctuary, to commit to providing refuge for 50 families from Syria.  Nothing happened, except the international refugee crisis is now massive and urgent action is needed.

A meeting was called and it was packed out.  Pressure is again going to be put on the council, which will be dissolved in two weeks prior to the May local elections, and it was heartening to hear about what is already being done to support refugees already in the area.

On 19th March there is the 3rd 'Stand up to Racism' march and rally in London.  It's expected that it will be bigger than the previous ones and I'll be down there with others from Norwich.

This is Weyman Bennet, of Stand Up to Racism.
