Above And Beyond...

El Mirador del Rio

We headed for the north of Lanzarote which was about an hours drive from where we are staying at Playa Blanca.

The view from El Mirador del Rio was spectacular. It is situated high up on the Risco de Famara, at an altitude of 475 metres, in the most northerly area of the island. It is probably one of Lanzarotes most spectacular panoramas. The blip photo was taken just down the road from the visitor centre (see extra) which has a lot of influence from Lanzarotian artist Cesar Manrique. Entry was about £3 each.

The blip photo catches the cliff road down from El Mirador and the southern tip of La Graciosa island opposite.

Afterwards we visited Orzola, a little ferry and fishing port, on the tip of the island a short drive from Mirador, where we enjoyed refreshments and watching many cyclist descending on the village to do the same.
