Farewell to Stromness

Mono Monday's theme is looking up. Many thanks to Trisharooni.

So that is what this is - looking up at one of Salford's many new apartment blocks. This is the Abito block in Greengate.

Judging by the balconies people like living here. The studio apartments are small, but the block is not a slab of concrete or brick, and has some individuality. On the balconies are bikes, flower boxes and window tubs, tables and chairs, and washing drying in the spring sunshine. And this chap has been repositioning something, and then noticed someone pointing a camera in his direction - cheek !

And farewell to Stromness ? Sir Peter Maxwell Davies died today, at his home on Orkney. Born in Salford, and one of the original patrons of The Lowry (with Albert Finney and Robert Powell, also of this parish). The city has changed a lot since he left it many many years ago.
