Solar Power in the Snow

I used to equate solar power with hot countries but as the technology improves it seems to be working in other places too.
We were providing a workshop for a school just outside of Östersund in mid-Sweden and I noticed all these solar panels on the roof. The building we were in had solar panels working as sun-shades above the windows too.
The panels didn’t have much to work on today as grey clouds hid the sun.
