Gently down the stream

Outdoor theatre

Slightly weird shot of the Grange, a surreal place at the best of times and particularly in today's mix of sunshine and stormclouds.

I've done a few shots lately during all this rain that I've thought of as 'indoor theatre'. For me, this is their outdoor equivalent - a stage set of a house, remodelled at the beginning of the 19th century in the form of a Classical Greek temple, plonked in the middle of the English countryside and disliked by the man who commissioned it so much he promptly sold it (to the Baring's Bank family - was that an omen?). For some weeks during the summer it hosts posh opera. The rest of the time it's empty and you can wander around the outside or sit under the portico and look across to the lake and over the parkland. It feels very far away from real life and full of ghosts.

Not too well today :0(
But, hey, there's always tomorrow and that is - Monday!
