Spicks And Six Foot Span

I was delighted to see my own personal Kes on top of the boiler house chimney this morning. :)

After lunch I walked around Seventy Acres Lake. My first shots were of this heron. I got one of it photobombed by a cormorant. Looking for a title, I searched 'spick and span' and discovered that spicks are nails. Jack's spicks can be seen clearly.

I togged swans, grebes, a muntjac, a little egret, a goldcrest and gulls looking unsteady, high in a weeping willow. I thought I heard a woodpecker drumming only to discover it was a crow making that exact sound. They're brilliant mimics.
