Signs of Spring ?

After three consecutive days of gloomy, cloud-covered murk in this area of the country I set out this afternoon to prove to myself  that spring is indeed on the way. Passing the flowering cherry that I blipped earlier this week I noted the the buds were now all tightly closed. However, on some of the trees just round the corner was some evidence of new growth which I proceeded to record. The cynic in me nevertheless notes that the way I have montaged these four images together has in fact spelt out a resounding cross, a clear negative which is probably more attuned to the way I feel.
