I took this from the entrance to "Dynamic Earth" where I was part of a political panel at a STEM Conference.

Edinburgh has so many layers of history , reflected in its diverse architecture but you don't often see such a clear demonstration of the fact - it looked to me like a trench suddenly dug through time.
