Rocky Mountain Moments

Busy Day at the Feeder

We got our predicted snow last night (8 inches wet and heavy) and, as always, the birds flocked to our feeders.  I have a ringside seat at our tree level front window and spent quite a while watching and photographing them.  I decided to feature this Dark-eyed Junco because they will be leaving us soon to spend the summer in cooler climates.  My first extra is a Black-capped Chickadee who is a year-round resident.  The second extra is Piper on our deck giving thanks to the snow gods for her dream come true.  The third is our mystery snow plow man clearing the snow in front of our house.  Whenever we get more than a few inches of snow he plows all the sidewalks in the subdivision.  We don't know him or where he lives and he's always gone before we can get out to thank him. The neighbors I have asked don't know him either but we are all very thankful for all the work he's saved us over the years!  :-)
