Sand Picture

After all the rain on the West Coast and in the mountains I went to the Waimakariri Gorge Bridge to see what effect it had had on the river. The water was wide, swift and muddy, but there was clear evidence that it was a good two feet deeper in the previous 24 hours. I'm sorry I didn't go yesterday.

I became fascinated by the patterns that the receding floodwater made on the drifts of sand.

We had yet another mild day. I could become used to this.
