Brunch

This morning we left our motel and visited the farmers market at Hobsonville Point.  It is housed in the historic Seaplane Hangar.   The Landing's largest hangar was built in 1939 to house the massive Short Sunderland flying boats, which had a wingspan of 34 metres. Hobsonville was New Zealand's premier flying-boat base until 1967 when the amphibious craft were phased out.  In 2001 the air force began to gradually relocate their operations to their base at nearby Whenuapai. The government made the land available for housing.  It was interesting to see a large scale housing development where all the housing stock is very new.
