Mono Monday . . . The Big House

I thought I'd take a photo of a big house for the big picture challenge.  This is the largest of the three meeting houses at Ohinemutu.  A carved house first stood on this site in 1878.  It was demolished in 1939 and rebuilt and reopened in 1943.  The figure at the top is Tamatekapua.  He was the captain of Arawa canoe that brought the ancestors of Maori to New Zealand.  Ohinemutu was quiet this afternoon with only a handful of tourists taking pictures.   i was pleased to get a photographer in the shot.  I think he was getting a close up not the big picture.
