Tiny Tuesday . . . Sea Urchin / Kina

Once hidden now seen
Exquisite pattern of spheres
Curved tactile surface

We have three kina shells bleaching in the sun.  They were gathered from the sea floor when we were in Preservation Inlet.  We did eat kina roe but these shells were left whole.  The shells were boiled to remove the spines and internal parts.  They were scrubbed and then left to dry.  They start out brown and the sun will bleach them to a soft green and they will be an interesting talking point.  This one is 13cm/5in across.
