Eridge

Isn't this lovely? It's a rare hybrid - a mainline and heritage railway station. This arrangement is on the increase though and the Bluebell Railway now connects to the mainline at East Grinstead and the Kent & East Sussex is hoping to connect at Robertsbridge - but there is still a great deal of work to do. The win for heritage railways is not just a hike in passengers but the opportunity to bring in (and send out) visiting rolling stock without resort to a low-loader.

This is the Spa Valley Railway platform at Eridge which is why it is painted green and yellow; the colours of the pre-nationalisation Southern Railway. The station dates back to 1868 and I like that there are chimneys for each of the rooms in the building.
