European Starlings....

....are not native to the U.S.   In the late 1800's a Shakespeare enthusiast released 60-100 of these birds in Central Park in New York City. It's estimated that there are now in excess of 200 million of these starlings living here. In the winter, they're covered in spots, as you can see from the one on the rt.   I think their iridescent feathers are so pretty in the sunlight!
