Bee Paradise

Took off for the "Schickling" walk at Ottobeuren. It was very grey and cool but one could sense the sun was doing it's best to burn away the cloud. Eventually by midday it succeeded

Half of the walk is over meadows which are seemingly part of a nature reserve. Only bit of land that isn't covered in slurry at the moment. Saw some digging machines in the distance and took a detour. Looks like a series of small ponds are being dug, probably for the frog/toad/amphibians. A big issue in these parts, almost getting to be a competition to have the biggest amphibian population and rescue service which will be getting in to full swing in the next few weeks..

In the far centre background the twin towers of the Ottobeuren Basilica - today being Palm Sunday, thought I might see a procession and so drove by after the walk. Nothing to be seen but it was a bit late by then.

More garden work, most of it cleaning out our garden pond which gets invaded by toads each year. I will actually try to remove many of the eggs in to the nearby ditch as our pond can't cope. Oh and yesterday saw the goldfish appear for the first time this year.

But it's all early days, there are pockets of snow all over the place still but all the signs are positive. Suspect there will still be quite a bit of snow up in the hills in two weeks time.
