Life though my lens

Overlooking Zion

Today we explored the valleys and towering red striped cliffs of Zion National Park. We started our day by hiking to an overlook point of Zion valley. It was a beautiful day and you could see for miles along the valley. We then headed to catch the shuttle up to the riverside walk and the narrows. The riverside walk was a lovely relaxed stroll alongside a river within the towering cliff that shot up thousands of meters vertically into the air. At the end of the riverside walk the narrows hike began. The narrows hike extends several miles up a narrow canyon but entirely consists of wading through a river. We were underprepared for it but waded a little bit up river and rounded a few bends. The water came up to mid thigh in places and was freezing cold as most of the water was from snowmelt, but the trip was enjoyable. With sogging shoes we squelched back to the shuttle bus, briefly stopping at weeping rock to check out a small waterfall and hanging garden before heading back to the car.
