RETIREMENT TRIP TO THE ISLE OF SKYE DAY 3

Off to Portree today and, after a mosey round the shops and a coffee, we had a wander round the harbour to look at the boats.

Next stop, the Old Man of Storr but we stopped en route to get some shots from a distance and this is my main image. The Storr stands at a height of 719 metres and the “Old Man” is the rock stack on the right. We ended up walking right up to the “Old Man” and this old man was struggling a bit to say the least. However, we did make it and have survived to tell the tale. The 1st picture in the extras shows the Storr and the hillwalkers climbing up to the base of the ancient rock outcrop gives a sense of scale. The 2nd picture shows the “Old Man” in the centre which rises 50 metres from its base. The 3rd image is taken from the plateau up at the base of the outcrops and looks and feels like something out of “Lord of the Rings”.

On the way back to Broadford we stopped at Sligachan and had a wander up the Glen for my final two pictures of the day. Wellington boots on and down into the River Sligachan for my 4th picture showing the river with the snow capped Cuillin behind. My last image is a mono version of the Cuilin massif showing some heavy cloud looming above.

It has been a long day and it was good to get back to the hotel for a long soak before dinner. Bed is a calling, night night!
