Rise of the Machines

After visiting a customer this morning I took myself up to the top of the NCP car park in Rother Street to see how they're getting on with the town centre redevelopment that will be Bell Court. It's taken a long time to get started on this project which entailed the desolation of Town Square by the closing of most of the shops over the last year or so.

They are still in the demolition phase but hope to be opening in 2017. This will include a multiplex cinema for which I haven't met anyone in favour, we have a perfectly good two screen Picture House and am afraid for its future, hopefully it will reman the main stay of Art House films including live screenings which are very popular.

There will also be new restaurants and cafes, just what we need in a town where every other place is an eatery or coffee shop. The only good thing is that a tired, sad area will have a little life again, in fact as it did years ago before they started messing about with it.

It maybe just my warped way of thinking, but this so reminds me of Rod Hull's Emu.
