Mr Brock

Spotted a badger scuttling across the lawn at dusk today, the first one I have seen this year. It's a reminder to start putting out the peanuts that they love, and that regularly attract them to our patio on late evening visits that usually happen from springtime onwards..

I first started putting out peanuts when something kept digging up our patio plant pots, and we suspected that badgers were the culprits. So it proved, and peanuts successfully diverted them from their nightly pot foraging.

They are becoming more active now as winter ends and they are on the hunt for food while tending cubs born in the setts last month. There are badger setts in the woods behind our house.

This is Henry, a toy badger I couldn't resist buying on a recent trip to Yorkshire. He often keeps me company on long car trips.
