A Pinwheel....

...that's what it looked like to me, but it was all green, and the shapes of the leaves were hard to see and the texture was lost.  So I have done some major faffing around in monochrome trying to bring out the shapes and textures and of course, I wasted an exorbitant amount of time....

I went for the first time to the McCrillis Gardens in Bethesda, which is a 5 acre property that was donated to Brookside Gardens and is the location of their Botanical Art School.  This is very close to home, so I was quite delighted to find it.  Exploring and finding new places is one of the things I am greatly enjoying about retirement.
