Speak no evil, see no Evil, Hear no evil!

Three little angels on a visit to Carisbrooke castle today.  We had all had the fun of an Easter Egg hunt at our holiday house and then set off for Carisbrooke.  The showers fortunately passed but it remained very windy so that the Keep and Battlements were closed - the best bits! The castle is an excellent example of a motte-and-bailey dating from 11th century although most of it starts from the 13th century; Charles I was imprisoned at the castle in the months prior to his trial and attempted to escape from here.

It has the unusual feature of a large wheel which draws up water from the central, deep well and is powered by donkey; four donkeys are kept at the castle even now for this purpose - although that is only as a demo for the tourists. The blip photo is three of the grandchildren posing for the See/Hear/Say no evil 'tradition'. I have to pop in one extra of little Amelia tackling an Easter egg and another of the beautiful Anna with her hot chocolate (these may have to be removed in due course as I run out of 'extras').

After Carisbrooke, John and I went west to look at the coast near Freshwater bay where it was very windy indeed!!! The waves crashing in on the beach with promise of worse to come.  Great meal in the evening and the usual copious quantities of wine.
