Sowing (8.10am)

9.9C bright and sunny. Some cloud. Light mostly Westerly breeze.

Frosty this morning. When Maeve the Deerhound and I were out just after 7am I noticed a tractor in the field just across the road from our house. All set up for seed sowing. When I went out to scrape Apothecary7's windscreen before she set off for work I could hear the tractor had started working in the field. I fetched a camera and went round the corner, crossed the road, and through a gap in the Hawthorn hedge I could see the tractor sowing (and fertilising) and another further over in the field harrowing. The frost was still visible on the soil.

Maeve and I went for a walk after lunch. Runrig on the Nano (The Story and Mara). We went up to the church then continued out along the country road to Scryne. The big machines were back and potatoes were being planted in one of the fields across the road from the farmhouse. As we reached the farmyard one of the tractors which do the planting was back for refuelling and more seed potatoes.

We went down the track to the shore road then walked along the cycle path to Westhaven and went over the road bridge over the railway and down to the beach. The tide had just started to come in. Still no sign of any Westhaven boats in the water. We crossed back over the road bridge and carried on round in a loop heading into Carnoustie and up the main road before turning along for home.
