From Diamond Hill

Luckily the rain stopped for us to get this amazing view from Diamond Hill, down to Lake Wanaka. It was quite a steep climb. We met a local chap at the top, and he was very encouraging about our Routeburn plans, saying if we were fine on this hill, there was nothing steeper or harder on it. I hoped he was right as I was getting nervous.

The rain we'd had the previous day's had fallen as snow on the mountains to the west. We'd hoped to see Mt Aspiring but it remained hidden.

After our walk we drove over the Cardrona Pass (saw the Snow Farm cross country ski area) then we stopped just over the other side for the view down to Queenstown. We saw it was possible to do another steep walk up Rock Hill so we did that before heading round to Lake Dunston, where we freedom camped.

Yay, for the first time I've been able to upload another picture - overlooking Queenstown, for RockHill.
