Painting the Modern Garden

I had a fabulous day in London today with my great friend G.  We started with a walk through Green Park and saw a bit of the changing of the guard. Then we went to a fantastic exhibition at the Royal Academy called Painting the Modern Garden, from Monet to Matisse. There were some absolutely fantastic paintings by well known artists, but it was also great to find great paintings by artists we didn't know, particularly Santiago Rusinol and Henri le Sidaner.  There were also three very large panels forming a water lilies scene by Monet that normally reside in three separate galleries (what a shame), that were just stunning.  We spent a couple of hours round this brilliant exhibition, definitely one I'd recommend.  A great day.

(The statue is of Sir Joshua Reynolds).
