Life in Sunny Dubai

Marathon #2

This picture is taken at 6pm today whilst we were queuing to pay for everything bought during the 8 hours we were shopping; and that's only for the big stuff. The soft furnishing will happen another day!

So, we were standing here waiting to check out, when I looked at my phone to see a message instructing an alternative to be bought. I had to leave quickly to do a swap when another message came back to say leave things as they are...

IKEA Cyprus do things different e.g., 1. if you pay 20 euros, they race round picking things off the shelf to have them delivered. 2. They charge delivery by weight. 3. They charge assembly as a percentage of the purchase price. 4. They have a loyalty scheme that gives you money back! [In Dubai, you get free delivery and assembly when you buy over a set amount and you don't get any money back no matter how much you spend...]

We had lots of good help from some very switched on staff, and a lady who helped last November was there again and she recognised us! Needless to say, she was just as helpful today... but something that REALLY wowed us today was Andreas of Varosi Laundry. We had given him 4 duvet covers, 3 fitted sheets and pillow cases to wash and iron on Thursday... he said come back between 2-3pm on Saturday.

I knew this would be a problem but didn't want to let on in case he wouldn't have them ready, so this morning, we went to see if we could find a solution to the problem. I could not believe it when I spotted all our things neatly packed in a bag, ready to deliver. It was 9am. There you go. Now I can't wait to sleep in these clean sheets. :D

It's been an incredible day, and we are very tired.
