Muddy Buddy Tasman

Quite by chance we came across the Tasman School fundraiser. A Muddy Buddy race across the mudflat where everyone comes back covered in mud. The children monitor the estuary life to make sure they don't disturb any wildlife to any great degree.
We had been to Mapua for a look at the wharf area and came across the race as it was in progress. They have to go under nets and down in channels. They get washed down by the fire brigade when they get back to the school and then there is music and food. A beautiful 21degree celsius day for it.
This afternoon we went for a drive to Marahau and sat watching all the kayaks and water taxis come in. No wind, the sea was like glass.
Today is the first day with the clocks turned back so we were up and out by dawn at 6.30am looking for mushrooms again. I am not going to waste my dawn shot so it is in extras.
