A time for everything

Black-eyed Susan

Sunday
Our first time back at church in a number of weeks - three and a half weeks in England, then we skipped last week to watch the Murray/Federer Wimbledon Final! Things are really moving along with the new sanctuary and some of the re-purposing of parts of the existing buildings. The first service in the new sanctuary is supposed to be the first or second week in December. In the afternoon we were at a Peace Corps picnic in Winton Woods. While we were in England, and Laura was still at home, she finally received the news she had been waiting for - she will be serving with the Peace Corps in Macedonia as an English Resource teacher, beginning in September. So this was a chance to meet returned volunteers and other invitees or nominees. It turned out to be mainly returned volunteers, some of them from a number of years ago, but she did get to meet a couple, in their fifties I would guess who will also be serving in Macedonia - small world! The wife will also be in education, while the husband will be a business adviser. I have such mixed feelings about Laura going - on the one hand, I'm obviously proud of her wanting to do it and being accepted, and excited for her - it should be a wonderful experience, but I'm going to miss her so much. Our closest offspring is now going to be Jen in Houston! When we got home, Roger and I went out biking on the Little Miami trail. The sky looked quite threatening at one point, and there was thunder rumbling around us, but we made it back in the dry!
