Gozo

Our first morning in Malta, and we awoke to discover our lovely view of the bay.

This morning was all about exploring - finding some bottled water, and then finding our way around the area.

At 11.45 we met up at the Imperial Band Club to pack up the percussion we're borrowing and then we bought lunch then headed off on the bus to the ferry terminal.

We got to stand and watch the ferry come in, and then marvelled over a hundred cars drove off it.  The trip across to Gozo is around 25 minutes and it was reasonably calm, despite the wind.

Once on Gozo we picked up another coach and drove up to Xewkiji Rotunda Church.  After being given time to have a look around the church we were treated to a short speech about the history of the church, and how they built the new church around the old chuch, before finally dismantling the old one.  We got to view some artifacts from the old chuch in their museum and we then took the lift up to their roof for some spectacular views from the dome and bell tower.

From there we walked down to the local band club for tea and cake before continuing on to the Cittadella Cultural Centre in Victoria.  We were planning on playing outside, but given the high wind we ended up playing inside in a very small room.  It was loud!

After an hour's concert we had some pasta before returning back on the 9pm ferry and returning to the Imperial Band Club for food and drink.  Then it was back to the hotel to flop after a very busy day!

The blip is of the main dome at the church - it was impressive!
