Possibly holy

What a day - a mega well exploration all around the coast of Roaringwater Bay and beyond. We notched up six wells, most of them extremely obscure and well hidden. Thank goodness for Himself's GPS which is proving invaluable for they are usually still there but they might be under sods of earth, clumps of gorse, hedges of brambles, in the middle of bog, lurking under roots of trees, covered over by concrete or sunken deep into the hillside. I am preparing a special well hunters' kit consisting of secateurs, shears and very thick gloves!
This little well was the most accessible found just near to Roaringwater Quay - a delightful sheltered spot. The jury is out as to whether it is officially holy but there are rumours that the water was taken for general ailments. What is certain is that the water is exceptional - we chatted to a man doing some gardening who assured us that locals flocked to gather the liquid. We were amused to find that on top of the well, held down by a stone, was a piece of paper which proved its efficacy - scientific evidence even - see extra. The water was clear, cold and refreshing. And what a delightful little door now customised with a few arty willow wands. It feels holy to me.
We staggered home when it was time to zoom out again for chips and arthouse. Chips good, arthouse poor - about  a grumpy old Finnish man with few redeeming features. Too tired to blip so this is a backblip!
