A Chip On Her Shoulder

I phoned the vet this morning hoping to get a chip dispensation for ten-year-old Jazzy on the grounds of age and the fact that she never leaves our property or mixes with other dogs and because she has an identification tattoo in her ear. No chance. "It's the law" said the receptionist.

We found a collar and Jazz wasn't happy about wearing a 'necklace'. She became a trembling wreck when she heard the jangling of the lead. German Shepherds aren't very brave. I thought we were going to have to carry her out to the car but in the end I bribed her with ham. We took her to Epping in the Volvo and I think she preferred it to the windowless van.

She growled at a Staffie leaving the vets and at a Yorkie arriving. She loved the vet and the veterinary nurse though and the insertion of the chip between her shoulder blades was quick and seemingly painless. We exited from the back of the building. Jazzy seemed to enjoy the journey home and growled at a few more dogs on the way.
