If you can't beat them...

Swan's Nest.

We began the day by heading west towards Cockermouth so Clickychick could meet up with a client.  On the way I saw my first Swallows of the season round "Embleton Bottom".  From there we spent quire a lot of time in the Lakes Home Centre, we had been there before but not had time to wander and see the range of things they sell.

The next port of call was Carlisle and we had a great run up passing various places from my childhood that we hadn't been near for a long time.  This brought us to one of our favoured garden centres - now there's a surprise!

At the bottom of the car park is a largish pond which is more or less left to be natural.  We spotted a Cob Swan cruising round in the duckweed.  If there is a Cob at this time of the year there is almost certainly a Pen.  Sure enough a moment or two scanning the perimeter of the pond and I had found her.
