Green Hat

While Tim and Owen disappeared into the field, Maya and I worked on a new sewing project…an ongoing quilt. We made the first block today and she took a pile of fabrics home with her to work on a second one. It is fun to see the choices she makes for her colors and patterns. Her favorite colors are green and brown and she loves fabrics with leaves…

The "treehouse" is definitely a slowly evolving project. Grandson Peter and his friend Gavin started it, but they are both in high school now and have more important things to do.  Owen and Tim are making "improvements" in the form of a "handrail" and a new rung to replace the missing one in the ladder. The priorities are different…Peter and Gavin made "cupholders" by pounding a million nails into the tree. Owen and Tim were more concerned with safety issues…

I wonder if they know about the ticks lurking in the grass beneath the tree in between some fairly healthy stands of poison oak…and then there are the mosquitoes which are beginning to gather into phalanxes in every puddle of water…not to mention the snakes… Life in the country can be a dangerous place. The kids love every minute of it.

Olive has now gone home with her family, Dana has taken Blake and Rudy home after a wild romp and OilMan and I are ready for bed….
