Devoke Water

Weather set fair so we decided to go west.  After initial frosty start in the Duddon Valley (see extra) we drove on to Devoke Water.  I hadn't been there before.

Devoke Water is the largest, and one of the highest, tarns in the Lake District, and lies on Birker Fell, half a mile to the west of the road between Ulpha and Eskdale. It is at an altitude of 770 feet (223m), has a depth of 46 feet, and is almost a mile in length.

From here we went on to Eskdale and Stanley Ghyll Force.  Nice walk but didn't get any reasonable photos here unfortunately.

Couldn't face Hard Knott Pass on a busy end of school holiday Sunday so retraced route home via Birker Fell.
