Trishaw in Malacca, Malaysia

Day 10

Off on an adventure for the next few days. Nine of the family with a driver travelled into Malaysia.

A bit of a delay leaving Singapore, but finally crossed the causeway over to Johor Bahru. Once we left the city, much agricultural land, miles of palm and rubber plantations. Palm oil is a big export from here.

Lunch in Yong Peng, then on to Malacca. Chicken in red fermented bean curd and rice wine was delicious. We are staying at The Pines Hotel. on the 22nd floor. Very classy, massive rooms. Grand views, greeted by The Call to Prayer.

Took the bus to town centre. Loads of these Trishaws on the road. Lit up at night, the music systems booming. We visited Queen Victoria's fountain, St Paul's church and the Fort. A strong catholic influence is evident in churches and schools.

Dinner at Amy Nyonya restaurant. New flavours to try, delicious. Chicken, squid, Ladies Fingers, Chap Chye, and Chendol dessert.

It must have been around 35C today. Umbrella up most of the time.
