Broom Envy

Cambridge City Council have decided that the Victorians did not make a very good job of Tenison Road and so have embarked on a three month plan to dig it up and put it back, with some embellishments.

This means a degree of inconvenience for us, but it does mean I can pretend I am some sort of vagabond as I drive through the several 'road closed', 'no entry' signs every morning.

Anyway it seems that whilst the Victorians may have skimped on the foundations they certainly did not skim on the water mains which it seems the City Surveyors missed. This means the project has been delayed for at least 5 weeks whilst the water people replace all the pipework. It also means that there won't be as much cash for extras like the lovely trees that were supposed to be going in.

But never mind, we will have a new road... at some point.

The workmen are a helpful bunch, I think there was a bit of broom boasting going on here though, reminded me of this...
