Spring

I like spring. Regardless of how rubbish the winter has been it's always reassuring to see life reappearing again, all nice and fresh.  This particular tree is almost entirely dead; fallen over, practically uprooted, swamped by the local parasite, but still it struggles on.

Steve Elsby, our tree carver, is back today.  I would show you some early pics but I think you should wait until tomorrow.

Seven of us went to the Chase Inn on t'other side of the hill; us, Steve, two guests/friends from Cambridge days we've not seen for a long time, and their two dogs.  When the pub said 'dog friendly' it properly meant it.
